Renowned Pilates industry leader tapped for new role in expansion
APRIL 24, SAN JOSE, CA – Urban Body San Jose, the only boutique studio in Northern California’s largest city to feature both Classical Pilates and The GYROTONIC® Method, announced today that industry leader Maria Yu has been named an owner.
Mrs. Yu began with Urban Body San Jose in 2016 as a Classical Pilates instructor and quickly became an integral part of the studio’s success. “Maria’s work ethic, attention to detail, focus on quality, and passion for providing everyone with the best experience made it easy to make the decision to bring her on as a partner,” says Shannon Adams, Urban Body San Jose founder and owner. “Maria embodies the best of our vision and industry.” As an owner, Mrs. Yu will lead and grow the studio’s Pilates programming, and oversee an expansion of a thriving teacher-training comprehensive Classical Pilates certification for which she co-developed original curriculum.
“I am so excited to join this special studio as an owner and rededicate my energy to our team,” says Mrs. Yu. “Our clients are incredible, and we have something really unique.” A Florida native, Mrs. Yu is a Power Pilates Certified Teacher and completed Benjamin Degenhardt’s 360 Pilates. Prior to the wellness industry she enjoyed a seventeen year-long professional dance career with the former Ballet San Jose as a principal dancer. In 2018 Content Magazine featured Mrs. Yu for her commitment to the wellness industry through her work with Pilates. She, her husband and their family live in San Jose.
