Marika Krause Ponce, Associate Director of Public Relations, The Tech Interactive
Marika Krause is a former journalist and current communications professional. She currently loves bragging about all the amazing ways The Tech Interactive (formerly The Tech Museum of Innovation) is inspiring the next generation of problem solvers. She co-leads The Tech’s IDEA team (Inclusion Diversity, Equity and Access) and is passionate about connecting with our community.
A journalist who enjoyed telling the stories of our community at NBC Bay Area for nearly 10 years, Marika also worked in media relations for Santa Clara University. She also taught a course on social media for Santa Clara Adult Education and wants to see more people connected and comfortable with digital literacy. She is a proud Colorado State Ram with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Technical Communication.
Marika co-led the 2017 March for Science, rallying nearly 10,000 people in the South Bay to celebrate science and advocate for evidence-based policy. She is also on the leadership team for Women’s March San Jose and enjoys elevating the voices of women in our community and advocating for the underserved. She wants more people to realize their potential as leaders and to create more opportunities for diverse voices in our democracy.
She enjoys weekend adventures with her husband Carlos and adorable dog Rufio. (Yes, from Hook. Roof-ee-oooooooh!) She also runs a Facebook group encouraging more diverse representation of women in media called Savvy Women Movie Club which also serves as a handy excuse to talk pop culture and watch movies with awesome people. She also throws a rad Galentine’s Party every year where folks put a little more love in the world by making and mailing cards to friends.
