2007 - Women in Leadership, “My Dinner with the D.A.” Recap

On April 11, 2007, the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce held the fifth annual Women in Leadership dinner to celebrate the leading women in our community who are “doing it all” to establish themselves as the future leaders of the Silicon Valley. Three tremendous young women were selected this year to receive monetary grants, Monica Sandoval, Corella Hernandez, and Melissa Shain-Shain Bautista.

“We are very proud to be able to recognize the hard work of these individuals, and in some small way assist them on their path to leadership.” said Pat Dando Chamber President and CEO. “Each year I am amazed at the deserving nominations submitted to the Chamber, how involved these women are and the passion they have for truly making a difference.”

The grants are funded by the Chamber's Community Education Foundation, which also issues monetary grants each year to Legends & Leaders Education recipients.

The evening began with networking and a rousing game Silicon Valley “Clue.” The Chamber was delighted to have as our returning Emcee, Thuy Vu of CBS 5, who added her grace and charm to the program.

Our featured speaker, Dolores Carr, shared her inspirational story with the more than 350 attendees at the event. “We were very proud to be able to feature, yet another local woman leader, who makes a difference in our community” said Dando, “she’s an inspiration to all of us.”
